A wonderful sunny weekend when poets, authors and musicians took to the stage for the Parnell Festival of Roses. Our stage was perched on a small rise in the centre of the action, and we ran a total of 12 hours of entertainment over Saturday and Sunday as well as invading the main stage every now and then! With an estimated 20,000 visitors to the Festival (billed as a major event on the Auckland events calendar) the potential audience was considerable - and many stopped to listen to a poem or song, some stayed a while, and many wrote poems for the Poet-Tree which has now morphed into an indoor version, growing in the Parnell Library.
Some of these photos were taken by Gus, the festival organiser (and poet!) www.printablereality.com, the rest by Renee, the coordinator of the Poiesis stage.
